First off, I am not here to bash UPS or the decision to cut technical employees. Since leaving UPS and seeing the capability of today's technology, I actually see the decision as a good business decision. The reason for my post is for the people in TSG that have left, are still there or are going to be forced out soon. Don't panic. I have 2 young daughters and a wife that mostly stays home with them so I felt a ton of despair when I heard the news back in January of the cutbacks. I was worried about the mortgage, car payments, food, etc. as most of you were or are. I left UPS at the end of February and started a new job a few days afterwards. I work for a company that provides all facets of network and computer services to schools and businesses. I started out making slightly more than I was making at UPS, and have already received two raises BASED ON MERIT AND PERFORMANCE (both of which were more than the 2-3% UPS gives). Plus I will get a bonus in September and another in Decemeber based on how well the company does. Most of the time I work 6 to 8 hours a day, however there have been a few 10-12 hour days, but just a few. The best part is that I show up to do a job and when it's done, I am done. No PMT, no HDFS. I just call the office and tell the office manager that I am done and they bill the company. If you are being forced out or choose to leave UPS, there is a job out there for you. Keep sending out resumes and keep looking. You will find something and chances are you will be a lot happier. Good luck.
