Not on page 34.
Ok. Fair enough.

A quick look "online".....produced the "UPS Code of Business Conduct". Now, this "Document" referenced the "UPS Policy Book" and the "UPS Code of Business Conduct" as "complementary" documents........sharing practices and policies......conduct. Also referencing that "UPS" refers to all aspects of our "business". Meaning.....all of it.

Under "Political Activities and Contributions(P.34)"......I believe you will find sufficient "language" to address this very topic.

To be fair....you are correct....not on P.34 of the "UPS Policy Book"....but on P.34 of the "UPS Code of Business Conduct".

I believe the "Company" could have the right to remove the political statement from the work area and perhaps discipline the owner of such statement. Assuming, these things fall under the nebulous umbrella of "unprofessional conduct" or perhaps "stealing time". No? The document references the use of "funds and resources".......that mechanics toolbox is on UPS property(resources).....displaying a political statement on "company time(funds)". Now, how far can that be taken......?

And noting again........"complementary documents".

No, it's not.
In fact, it is(See the "UPS Code of Business Conduct"(P.34).
It is against UPS policy to display for or against any political party in the workplace environment.
This seems to be correct.......Policy meaning "Code of Business Conduct"(P.34).

What if the toolbox is the mechanics personal property? In that case it would be like if my car had a trump sticker on it and I parked it in the UPS parking lot. It’s on UPS property, and everyone can see my trump sticker as they walk past. But my vehicle is my property.

Ok. And?

You do realize.....UPS could bar your personal vehicle from UPS property......right? You do realize UPS has the right to regulate whatever happens on their property......through contract language, laws and policy. The mechanics personal property is on UPS's personal property. Political statements are addressed in UPS's Code of Business Conduct"(see above).

To directly answer your question-UPS "could" force the mechanic to remove the sticker or face discipline(in my opinion).

And.....you realize.....you can't do whatever you want at work(UPS)....right? Just because it has to do with personal property or even speech.

It is his personal property, and you bring up a very valid point and I would like to add that Employee cars in the lot can be seen by the public but a mechanics toolbox is not public facing.

The company could not possibly discipline someone for a sticker on his lunch pail or toolbox. Only if he put the sticker on a package car or other ups owned public facing property would I see them maybe doing something.

Let's explore for a minute....

Couldn't possibly? Only..... Ok...

So, if......that sticker has pornography(of any kind) on it. How about a pro Fed-Ex slogan? How about a sticker with his Mgr.'s face on it with any manner of derogatory verbiage.....UPS sucks.....Carol sucks!

Say, have you read the "UPS Code of Business Conduct"? Read it.

It may be his personal property........that's on UPS PROPERTY. See?

With all respect: You don't have unlimited personal freedom at work. You can't set up your own laptop(personal property, right?) on your toolbox at lunch and watch porn. You say that is extreme? These days....not really. Having a political sticker on your toolbox is somewhere in there.

Example: I've seen mechanics with earbuds talking on the phone while on the clock wrenching. Please don't tell me they are talking to Mgt.

So, your theory is since not facing the public....anything goes? Really?

A big swastika or rebel flag......see?
