UPS Reverses Capacity Cuts On Asia-US Flights - Wall Street Journal
United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) has reversed capacity cuts on key routes from Asia to the U.S. after a surprise slowdown in summer demand forced air freight companies to trim flying.
UPS and rival FedEx Corp. (FDX) both saw a slowdown in international volume growth in July and August and some of Asia's major air cargo hubs saw double-digit declines in shipments, in part because of a drop in consignments of consumer electronics.
"That was really isolated to the [third] quarter," said Mitch Nichols, president of UPS Airlines.
