UPS Transformation: From Parcels to Passengers - UPSers

UPS Transformation:
UPS saw an opportunity to make an extra buck with planes that sat idle during the weekends. UPS’s massive cargo fleet was profitable as a whole, but more money is always better. Thus, the UPS Passenger Operations charter service was born. UPS kicked off its passenger service with a Boeing 727-100 flight to Cincinnati and then on to Cancun, Mexico.

With 108 people on board at $349 per person, UPS and a charter company began splitting revenue in a new business for the package giant. Another plane flew from Pittsburgh, Pa., to Orlando, Fla., with 100 passengers, this happened in 1997. But UPS has stopped passenger airline due to some internal reasons.
