A United Parcel Service employee died after he was hit by the trailer of a semitrailer truck at the Des Moines airport early Wednesday
Daniel Raber, 64, of rural Warren County was opening a gate so the truck could make a delivery when the trailer struck him. He was pinned by the trailer against a guard shack, but not crushed, police said. Raber then fell, and the rear wheels of the trailer ran over his legs.
Raber was pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver was Si Mohammed Aboudouhe, 29, of Orlando, Fla. He was a trainee, and an instructor was a passenger in the truck. An autopsy is scheduled.
