Buying power is a much more subjective thing than what basically amounts to a tax.

The tariff bit feels like showing sales tax after the subtotal, while the other one definitely feels like a political statement. I dunno. That's just my gut reaction.
Amazon chased a lot of price gouging issues during covid I guess they think this will give their price more transparency. regardless of what they do i aint paying 245 percent more for anything unless it will save my life

Conservatives mocked liberals for saying we should buy less stuff anyway during our extended period of high inflation under Biden. Now it's the conservatives who are saying we should buy less stuff anyway because it's time to tariff the whole world.

yea i don't know anything about that . I think most people would say dont buy it at the higher price if you dont need it.

So the general conservative argument might become "Well you probably didn't need that stuff that costs a lot more with the tariffs anyway." Good luck to them.

see you're trying to turn this into a political argument. i dont remember dems making that argument and i dont need a conservative telling me that now . I'm not paying 245 more for anything I'll do without regardless of who is in power.

most of what china importants is dollar store stuff , Electronics and furniture. I dont need any of that to survive my daily living .

the rest will get settled , china will be the battle .

what do you need to live on a day to day bases? the only other thing i expect to see rise is the price of coffee which is something i need to live :) I'm stocking up on coffee
I drink coffee every day. I’m not worried about the price of coffee. I see a lot of people go to Starbucks every day and spend almost $10 on a cup of coffee. If I have to pay an extra $.15 per cup, I’m only paying $.45. I’ll be fine. I don’t go to Starbucks.

back to this topic and i know someone posted an article this is going to hurt UPS if the tariff war with china drags on

some thoughts on it

a lot of inbound china moves through these ports and southern cal hubs.

teamsters should probably be looking to get UPS to pull loads off the trains and fill the voids on sleeper teams
teamsters ( Sean) should probably be looking hard to make sure nothing is moving by contractor.

ups should be looking at options to take post office and 2day air off the planes and move it through available movements in the sleeper teams. its always cheaper to ground it then fly it.
ups should be looking at training and placing less vacation coverage drivers in feeders. but then again if the tariffs get settled they'll need them at which point they'll probably get blown out as companies play catch up.

this is going to be tricky for them because of the uncertainty as to how long this might drag out.
