VSB had nothing to do with being "necessary" Anyone who was eligible to retire was eligible for VSB. When I left they had to replace me. My position wasn't eliminated.

Buy outs are just a kind of layoff. It's a nicer way to eliminate people. We currently have several positions unfilled at the moment and in true UPS fashion, they will stay open until the District is on fire (that and NOBODY wants an operations management gig). But hey, we're saving all kinds of $$, just look at our stock price! Oh, wait, nevermind. Been outperformed buy the S&P for years...
