I apologize if this is too long. Big snow/rain storm in the northeast today so we began a bit early so we could be back no later than 5:30 pm. I had one mis-sort to deliver. I view scheduled pickups as the priority. If I have time and can get the mis-sorts off, I do. But I would won’t let them make me late. I was doing ok until I got to my daily FedEx Office stop. Mondays are heavy because stuff collects over the weekend. There’s an earlier Monday sweep that helps me a lot. Not today. Very heavy volume, which was fine, except it held me there for quite a while. Dispatch noticed and reassigned some stops. When I got back I didn’t know how to stat the mis sort so I asked a manager. He was very stern and was clearly conveyed by his tone that I was wrong not to make an attempt. But we figured out how to scan it. My own manager was fine with it, especially because delivering the package would have made me late. But I got back by the time I was told to return. Is there a course in management training that teaches them to make employees feel bad? Rationality I know I acted correctly. But dealing with this manager really bothered me.
