We used to write UTL--Unable To Locate--and bring them back to the center for lookup. This was back when part of our delivery area still used RD #'s. Our whole area is now 911 so we have very few lookups based on UTL--most of our lookups are moved are bad addresses. We have technology in place that forwards the information on any non-deliverable package to our clerks who will research them and, if they are able to find the correct address, the driver will be asked to go back and reattempt at the corrected address. We can also do address corrections on road. Suppose the pkg has a bad address but there is a phone number. We can call the number and try to get the correct address and reattempt the delivery if possible.
