I go camping and motorcycle alot. No work for me. I worked hard enough during my career. I enjoy my retirement and have actually lost a few pounds since I retired.

I'm still about 12 years away from retirement, but starting to think about life after UPS. I have 22 years with UPS and right now I'm a package/feeder driver. Should be in feeders in a few months after a retirement of one of our 3 feeder drivers. I'm curious what type of jobs if any you are working during retirement. Are you doing driving related jobs or something totally different?

Retirement means not working...So if you are still working, you are not retired in my book. After all the yrs of BS and hard work I hung it up at 55 almost 6 yrs ago. Bought an RV, been around the Country, 2 times up to Alaska just enjoying my time..When not traveling, taking it easy, no alarm clock to annoy me..Work with my Church doing a little volunteering a couple times a month, going to a Casino once in awhile, hitting the Gym 3 times a week so I don't get too fat, otherwise just enjoying my time.. That is one thing we can not buy...:wink2:

I, like many people, have no intention of retiring until I have to.
I took retirement from UPS but I did not retire.
I can still take travel trips and do anything I want to do working my current 3 jobs.
I would not take a job that locked me into a 9-5 M-friend job like UPS.
That's the difference.

May I also attempt to follow this path.

When I was put together (genes/ purpose), staying home, or in one place, is not me.

I must do something away from home each day.

Well as long as you enjoy what you are doing it is fine. Were you ever a driver? The reason I don't want another job is, after the long stressful days driving, getting up early to deal with rush hour traffic daily..Dealing with all types of weather, being a split driver for almost 9 yrs before I had my own bid route. Getting up early is the last thing I ever want to do anymore unless I really have to. Relaxing now is payback for all the stress filled yrs at UPS. At least I was able to walk out instead of limping out like others who work past their eligibilty date. But working is working no matter how you slice it.. Work to me is, trimming my trees, shrubs etc.. Before I take my dirt nap that all of us must take I want to spend the rest of my life carefree and just wing it so to speak. I was never really obsessed like many to Save Save Save....I take it one day at a time. 9/11 reminds us that you can plan for your future only to have your dreams taken away in a minute. All the $$ in the world can not give you any more time on this earth when your time is up. Guys that work at ups any longer than they have to ,will always worry about $$$... So enjoy your time.. Going on 6yrs already retired, Love it, I have a head start on others who are my age who are still working at UPS , and to me This time I have is priceless..:peaceful:

I remember watching you get off the truck one day as I was turning in. You looked like crap; your back was hunched over like Igor (Frankenstein) and I remember commenting to the others at turn in how you looked. Also, remember that day when you got in that accident and they made you finish your route? I met you and we finished your route together. I think you were out of work after that for 8 months or so.

Welcome to Hoke Smith Photography

Landscape and urban landscape for fun.
Weddings, portraiture, senior, family for money.
I am working on some micro-stock which is mostly people in environmental situations.

Interesting..... My wife and I operated a wedding video business for several years. Non-linear editing with Adobe Premiere and Canopus made post-production fun and creative. I also use to do underwater photography with a Nikonos III using Kodachrome...Ektachrome...and final prints on Cibachrome...

Nice web site...along with some excellent photos.... one of my favorites was the pelican....

I deliver Renegade Motor Homes for a friend of mine that sells them. If the customer doesn't pick them up I will drive them anywhere in the 48 states. Last trip was to Colby Ks from Md. Sweet rides and they pickup hotel and meal tabs. Have gotten to see a lot of the good "US of A" on someone else's dime. When I am not doing that I work 2 days a week at the golf course I use to deliver to. I agree with others - when I retired I didn't want to get another "job". I would have stayed at UPS if that were the case because I loved my job, but it was time after 33 yrs of delivery.

How do you get back home? Do you tow a car behind the RV or do you fly back on their dime?

He slaps a tracking label on his ass, stands by a letterbox and waits for the UPS guy.
