Wrote up for missed scans but....

You want him to document any discrepancies/irregularities on 1,400 packages?? Off the clock??
No anyone who comes in your truck. Say Jon Jeff and Judy come into your truck and help you load you write that down on that day. So when they come back and say it was you you can say how do you know it wasn't john Jeff or Judy. It will also be a big help to your business agent in a hearing. I'm speaking from experience.

There was no need for you to argue with anyone or refuse help and start making your own decisions. You don't get to do that.

You were not fired or suspended. Pick your battles wisely...

If we went by all of your decisions we would be broke and fed - ex would own us.

Its all good.
I work on twilight shift for a about 7 years now loading. Was wrote up on Tuesday for 5 missed ad hops/scans out of 1400 I did on Monday. Throughout the night 4 other people helped load my truck at different times. How can they write me up? When they have know way of knowing if it was me or the other four people. So Tuesday I refused help. Even loading at a fast pace its impossible for one person to keep it pulled in. I didn't want to get written up again, unless I new it was me that missed five freaking scans. It got so backed out the entire building shut down. So the till a loader to help me even if I refused. He came in and started loading and I walked out of the truck to my super and told him I wasn't loading while someone else was while they continue to ad hop me. He is my normal sup and he didn't write me up. They sent a female sup to write me up because mine refused to. They knew I would not argue with the lady sup. So my they get the upper sup to come talk to me. When I explained the situation with the write up in not a nice way. He said it was coming from up top blahh blahh and we had a big argument and and I went back to loading. Its BS I am always top load rate, with no misloads and they pull a bs write up on me. I can play their games. My pt sup even told me it was bs and he had my back. They didnt even cut him a check this week. Thats his issue though but the center I work in is corrupt and ridiculous
Grieve, grieve, grieve harassment until they quit bugging you. Whenever someone else loads your truck they don't have a leg to stand on. You have To stand up for yourself or they will keep dumping on you. They want someone to blame and you are convenient.

All you need to do is FOLLOW THIER METHODS. Every single one to the T. your pace is the one thing they can not write you up for and if the building gets shut down enough, they will either move you or get you hourly help. Make sure your steward is present when being disciplined (receiving warning ltr). and if you feel you are not being represented properly call your BA at your local. You are a TEAMSTER...work hard but take no abuse!!

Yeah I get help and then that helper just loads up packages and boom I get wrote up for not scanning a package. LOL I can't win. Only thing I can is cause havoc. Maybe then they will figure out a new policy. They know it could of been a different loader that missed a scan They simply don't care.

Your issue is: they can't prove you were the person missing the scans. You will not be fired over this. The packages made it to the right destination. If they wanted to fire you, they'd find a way.

You were the one that stated choose your battles wisely. Do you not think this Is a wise battle. If they write him up enough for miss scans and he doesn't fight it they will fire him. Whether or not the packages made it is not the point. The point is their is 3 other people helping him load and they single him out and tell him he is the one that missed the scans. Prove it would be my first words, second words would be, I need a grievance. I would probably follow that up with several sups working grievances to pay me for my mental anguish I suffered worried about if I was going to get fired or not. Seems to me this is a battle worth the fight.

My Union guy said "Write ups" are like toilet paper...
If a missort went down the wrong belt, everyone on the sort isle was written up.
According to my Union guys, Nothing they can do. Scare tactic to make you go faster, and or in this case, just makes them feel like they are doing something.
Smile, tell them you request a union steward, and Refuse to Sign.
Go in, do your job, and follow the methods, that is your Job. Supervisors job is to write you up.
Contact your BA, I bet they will tell you the same thing.
Don't let UPS stress you out.

No, this is not a battle worth fighting. If they messed with his pay or something serious, then it would be worth it. OP wants management off his back, and grieving isn't going to do that, rather the opposite.

And once again, no they are not going to fire him as we have all concluded they don't have proof. I don't know why they gave him a letter, as OP stated his management team is probably being forced to give a certain amount out per month. "was coming from up top, blah blah"

You don't know that they will not fire him. UPS has done a lot of stuff I would have never imagined them doing. They fired a guy for not sheeting packages he brought back on a package car he has never driven, and wasn't driving it the day they fired him. Progressive discipline thru warning letters will get him fired. To the op, go getem.

The problem with not filing is that if he receives discipline such as being written up, this would be the first step in a progression of discipline that could cost him time off of work. Plus, the more he takes, the more abuse he will be given. As far as choosing his battles, that is a very valid point. Bit you have. To take into consideration what will happen of you don't stand up .

Okay....really? You've been a PTer about as long as me and you haven't figure out this seasonal BS game yet? I work preload, not twilight. But every year when peak is over, management starts waving its dusty old light saber at the flavor of the week. Misloads, or PPH or attendance or SALTS (hence your username)...blah, blah blah. I've been written up for misloads twice I believe. I've been listed on the misload sheet when I was on friggin vacation once! Bottom line is, I have never seen anyone fired for excessive misloads..file a grievance and stop worrying. Next week, they'll pick something or someone else to complain about.

If tue I'm sorry that your local is weaker than the legs of a baby fawn.
I was his steward. I let them escort him out. He got a very well paid for vacation. I don't understand why you think you shouldn't file on a warning letter. Doesn't matter if your local is the strongest in the world, if you don't file they can't represent you. Glad your not in my building.
