I did talk with the union today and there are still no new talks scheduled. In light of today's recent developments with 710's secretary - treasurer new talks may be put on hold for some time. We as 710 members are going to have to show patience and unity during this time.

I haven't followed it closely, but AFAIK, "Harris" had the option of paying an agency/service fee instead of the full regular dues. I believe that this particular bargaining unit will now be allowed to become "freeriders", or RTW. They are under the jurisdiction of Illinois' public sector labor law.
I think that's a issue with contractors. I don't believe they're paid AS EMPLOIYEES.
That's the big thing that alot of people are missing
They are paid with Medicare/Medicaid funds, administered by the State. "Harris" is paid to take care of her son. The State is not 'controlling' the worker/work environment in the traditional employer/employee sense.
