Discipline progression

How does discipline work?

Is it:
1. Verbal
2. Documented Talk With
3. Warning
4. Intent to terminate

then if you mess up again

5. Firing?

is that the way it works?

Talk with is nice, but not contractually required. If they want to go full speed ahead it's warning letter, suspension, termination. Check your supplement for any local variations.

It takes a serious commitment by the employee to reach level 5. We had one driver with 150 call ins within a one year period and was still driving. As you say though break one cardinal rule and all bets are off.

I thought it was:

warning letter,
1 day suspension,
3 day suspension,
5 day suspension,
then termination or center manager position.

We have had drivers caught stealing, roll aways, fighting, girlfriend in feeder, etc and never terminated.

in 15 yrs have had 3 drivers actually terminated. two for second bad drug test and one for dealing drugs out of truck.

i quess drugs are the big no no.
