Gas Prices

Obama tried to force gas prices higher to force more alternative energy. He restricted drilling on public lands but drilling on private lands out his control produced even more. So price are lower in spite of Obama, not because of him.

Rmoney lost an election using that exact logic.

Goldman eyes $20 oil as glut overwhelms storage sites

It is estimated that at least 100m barrels are now being stored on tankers offshore, waiting for better prices. A queue of 39 vessels carrying 28m barrels is laid up outside the Texas port of Galveston, while the Iranians have a further 30m barrels offshore ready to sell as soon as sanctions are lifted.

Data from the US Energy Department shows that America’s storage sites are 70pc full, in theory leaving room for another 150m barrels. But this is already tight enough to create regional bottlenecks. It will not be sufficient if OPEC continues to flood the global market in a bid to drive out rivals. Excess supply is running near 2m b/d.

If Romney were President oil companies would be paying us two dollars a gallon to take gasoline off of their hands. Thanks Obama.

If Obama is the reason gas prices are so low then the reverse is true that Obama was the reason that gas prices were so high.

Both claims are severely faulty.
Thank you President Obama.

Newt Gingrich promised to bring back 2.50 per gallon gas.

Michelle Bachmann promised 2.00 per gallon gas.

Just think if either of them were elected they would be bragging that they came through on a campaign promise.Obama is destroying the economy by attacking profits at the oil companies. Is there nothing this dictator will do to destroy America?

According to EIA data, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the United States was $1.838 on Jan. 19, 2009--the day before Obama took office.

Looks like prices are still up under Obama despite his efforts to force them higher.

Back when gas topped $4 a gallon, Republicans chanted "drill, baby, drill" at rallies across the country -- arguing more domestic drilling would increase supplies, reduce dependence on foreign oil and boost the U.S. economy.

Democrats, almost universally, mocked the GOP plan. In 2012, President Obama called it "a slogan, a gimmick, and a bumper sticker ... not a strategy."

"They were waving their three-point plans for $2-a-gallon gas," Obama told a laughing audience during an energy speech in Washington. "You remember that? Drill, baby, drill. We were going through all that. And none of it was really going to do anything to solve the problem."
