Gun control advocates in Ferguson MO

The news crews were not, and were no where near rioters. Yet they were tear gassed, shot at, and arrested. The Ferguson PD blew this from the get go. The state police take over and all of the sudden the protests are peaceful.... interesting.

After a brief calm period the rioters are back at it again - even with the state police present. And the State police also had to use tear gas so it isn't just about the Ferguson police tactics.

The rioters trashed the video store that Brown robbed. Probably because it had the audacity to record a crime that didn't fit their narrative.

This whole ordeal is nothing more than a bunch of animals that are using the situation as an excuse to riot and loot their own neighborhood. The police are in the right using teargas and any other force they deem necessary. Those rioters are behaving like a bunch of third world thugs. The damage would be ten times worse if they didn't have to spend half the time holding up their pants. For once "sagging" is serving a useful purpose.

Destroying one's own neighborhood to demand justice is a good and effective idea said no intelligent person EVER.

#BREAKING Robbery video was released over the objections of DOJ. Told #Ferguson PD it was inflammatory + non responsive to FOIA.

Is it any coincidence the protests died down when the video came out?

I heard of one town that had no uses for the equipment and sent it away .
I seem to recall the North Hollywood bank robbery/shootout back in 1997 where LAPD officers armed with nothing but 9mm handguns and 12 gauge shotguns were forced to go up against two bank robbers wearing multiple layers of body armor and wielding full-auto AK-47's. In order to safely rescue its wounded officers who were laying in the street, the LAPD was forced to borrow an armored car from a private company that had been servicing nearby ATMs as well as sending officers to a nearby gun store to requisition high-powered rifles that could defeat the armor worn by the robbers. Like it or not, the days of cops having nothing but patrol cars and light weapons are over. If I had a family member or loved one who was a member of a SWAT team, I would want them to be surrounded by as much armor plate and badass weaponry as money could buy.

They are still protesting

Ferguson, Missouri (CNN) -- A fragile peace shattered in Ferguson early Saturday, as looters again robbed neighborhood business while law enforcement in riot gear -- monitoring another night of protests against last week's killing of teenager Michael Brown -- largely looked on without intervening.

Some protesters tried to stop the looting, at times standing in front of one convenience store and preventing others from doing more damage. Police, criticized days earlier for being too aggressive with protesters, now drew the ire of merchants who told CNN they weren't doing enough.

Looting and violence was always the problem. There was never any issues about peaceful protests.

The protesters were (and still are) violent with them throwing bottles and rocks at police (including state police) among other things which is still protesters, not looters. Not all protesters are violent but many are.
