A thread on what people are seeing out here to become aware of growing our personal energy as dependable workers. (Not meant to be advice just a collection of stories)

“Put $100 a week in a S&P 500 fund.
At an 8.5% return.
For 35 years.
You’ll have $1,047,000.
Set up automatic deposits and this requires ZERO time.
And in a Roth IRA you’ll pay ZERO capital gains tax.”

I tell all the new guys to put twenty bucks a week in a coffee jar and after a year you have a grand. First raise put an additional twenty bucks in the 401k. Then next raise put twenty bucks in the stock program.

Sounds like it’s only sixty bucks and not enough but when you’re starting out you won’t miss it. In five years you got your nest egg and a good start on your retirement. Adjust when you get top rate

Do you even have $100?
Probably not.

Thank you. Further explanation.

Your total take-home pay per month: X
Your rent/mortgage: M
Your internet bill: A
Your phone bill: B
Your car insurance bill: C
Your electric/gas bill: D
Your grocery bill: G
Your child support or alimony: OhNo
Your total amount of money left over after subtracting all above: Y

X - M - A - B - C - D - G - OhNo = Y

Finally:
Y - 400 = What
What should not be negative number.

3 a day at Starbucks is $1,100/yr.

Eliminating a $400/mo car payment is $5,000/yr.

Earning an extra $250/week from job/side hustle is $13,000/yr.

When people focus on $3 decisions instead of $5,000-$13,000?
