Increase in union dues

From Wikipedia 'Union Dues' page:

"Assessments are generally one-time-only payments made by the union member to the union to cover a special program or activity. These special programs may or may not be ongoing, and may or may not operate for a limited time or in a limited fashion."

I'm not sure what it is for in your local or mine honestly. I'm sure if you called your local and asked they could give you an explanation of it. I never worried about it for $26 a year, but I don't blame you for wondering.
thanks brother, I'm like you, I'm not worried over a small portion being taken out as long as I receive a great benefit package and a fair wage, I'm thankful for the union overall.

.50 Cents times how many who received a raise. That's pretty substantial.
Still no comparison to the amount of money one makes under a union contract as opposed to for example fedex, the union IS the reason why we have these benefits and wages in the first place, I doubt I'll go broke over 50 cents.
