thanks brother, I'm like you, I'm not worried over a small portion being taken out as long as I receive a great benefit package and a fair wage, I'm thankful for the union overall. From Wikipedia 'Union Dues' page:
"Assessments are generally one-time-only payments made by the union member to the union to cover a special program or activity. These special programs may or may not be ongoing, and may or may not operate for a limited time or in a limited fashion."
I'm not sure what it is for in your local or mine honestly. I'm sure if you called your local and asked they could give you an explanation of it. I never worried about it for $26 a year, but I don't blame you for wondering.
You should be.thanks brother, I'm like you, I'm not worried over a small portion being taken out as long as I receive a great benefit package and a fair wage, I'm thankful for the union overall.

Explain your opinion please? You should be.
Still no comparison to the amount of money one makes under a union contract as opposed to for example fedex, the union IS the reason why we have these benefits and wages in the first place, I doubt I'll go broke over 50 cents..50 Cents times how many who received a raise. That's pretty substantial.
But the union will get richer?Still no comparison to the amount of money one makes under a union contract as opposed to for example fedex, the union IS the reason why we have these benefits and wages in the first place, I doubt I'll go broke over 50 cents.
That's okay as long as I receive a industry leading wage and fair representation and job protection, it's like insurance. But the union will get richer?
What about your pension ?That's okay as long as I receive a industry leading wage and fair representation and job protection, it's like insurance.
As far as a pension is concerned, I've already chosen not to count on or rely on a pension for my future well being, however I hope I do receive a pension In full. What about your pension ?
