ups america has the highest cost structures and the lowest rate of return...all planned..all calculated and all designed to shrink the high pay scales in the us.. The party is over in the usa

Unfortunately you are probably right on target.
The part that doesn't make any sense is the part about it being planned and calculated. UPS is reacting to the market conditions and the lower cost to serve by FedEx Ground.
While UPS may run the calculations that reflect a balance sheet on the reality, they did not make this happen. Blame Fred S if you want to go in that direction.

No, blame the customers. Just like UPS, FedEx reacts to market conditions. When it comes to pricing they've been in a better position to react than UPS has. Partially due to high Teamsters wages and partially due to head-in-the-sand management at UPS Corp over a very long period of time.

free at last.......
Assuming that UPS doesn't anger its remaining workforce so badly that they refuse to perform this is all likely good for the stock holders, at least in the short term.

If you are going to survive......you have to stop reacting to "what's good for the stockholders" and react to "what's good for the business". There is a difference!

When the company was private, those two things were more closely related. Now...you are only as good as the public perceives you to be. They're not concerned with slow, steady growth......they want results and they want them now. If you continue knee-jerk reactions in an attempt to pacify public perception.....you'll most likely suffer consequences not yet known. But, if I had to guess, it won't be good. JMO
