Local 104 ship sinking???

Conundrum

It was suspicious when local 104 wanted to change the name of the strike fund. Had a feeling something funny was going on, but not to this extent.

Annoy a liberal today. Hit them with facts.
He was actually fired by Andy M and then resigned his position as president. Payback is mother lover.
Exactly.

You can be fired from your BA job by the principal officer at any time.

But the President job is an elected position and you can't be fired from it.

But, if a President were to be fired from his BA job, he would either have to go back to his original trade job if he could.

If he couldn't, he'd either have to find another union job wirh in his union, or resign.

If you are appointed.

Some Locals elect their BA's.

Not true.

It depends on what your Local's Bylaws say.

Any elected official.... still has the right of appeal, through their Joint Council, or Conference,

And ultimately the IBT.

That kind of contradicts your previous statement.

But, I think I know what you mean.

Some locals don't elect their BA's.

In some locals, you can't fire elected officials.

And in some locals, you can hold elective office and work in your trade.

Sort of blows your whole post away, wouldn't you say.

Since everything you brought up about local 104, doesn't pertain to local 104.

And some do.... so what's your point ?

In some locals, you can't fire elected officials.

Name one.

And in some locals, you can hold elective office and work in your trade.

Most small Locals, can't afford to pay all Officers as full-time employees.

Or, like in TDU Sandys' (former) Local. She was 1 of 2. (and still ruined it)

How's that ?

Imagine a UPS driver being the vice-President of his local.

He is paid a small salary by the local, and still works at UPS.

Have you ever heard of such a scenario?

We have 5 out of our 7 E board members that work in their 'craft' that are not full time union officials.
We have elected business agents and appointed business agents.
Every local has its particulars.

Local bylaws differ.
