I tried to post the link to the 1996 faa reauthorization conference report, but for some reason the link would not work. Anyway, if you want to read it just google 1996 faa reauthorization, Fritz Hollings, and Fedex. Then click on congressional record.
I was able to pull up the senate floor filibuster and the arguments Kennedy was making against placing Fedex drivers under the RLA. Pretty interesting stuff. Too bad the link won't work.Ted Kennedy called it the lowest form of legislation he'd ever seen. The clause favorable to FedEx was literally inserted into the bill at the last minute. Snidely Whiplash would be proud of Fred.
Seems like both the Senate and the House would be up in arms about FedEx calling this a bailout. If people are actually calling their Senators and Congress men and women as a result of the brownbailout ads I wonder if they are getting a response that this isn't actually any kind of bailout.
beating a dead horse here
I'm going to push this topic back up to the top, because it should be obvious to even a Fedex defender that this whole express carrier language being placed in the 1996 bill was sneaky to say the least.
Leave something real sneaky to a real weasel like Smith.
Then you might want to sleep with your back against the wall.Fred is a weasel made of Teflon, covered with silicone spray, and then coated in Vaseline. Nothing can stick to him for long and he can crawl into almost any hole.

If Ted Kennedy hated it, it must be good!
Is your name Stash Lipton or something? Does the tea you drink allow you to see Russia from your front porch too?
I don't drink tea. I throw it in the harbor.
As far as I'm concerned, Palin is a cheerleader.
Today's Republicans are Euro-style Socialists. Today's Democrats are Marxists.
Unless we return to America's founding principles, we will soon lose what little liberty we have left.
