(Politico) President Obama’s 2012 State of the Union address again rated at an 8th grade comprehension level, on the Flesch-Kincaid readability test — the third lowest score of any State of the Union address since 1934.
The University of Minnesota’s Smart Politics conducted an analysis on the last 70 State of the Union addresses and found that President Obama’s three addresses have the lowest grade average of any modern president. “Obama’s average grade-level score of 8.4 is more than two grades lower than the 10.7 grade average for the other 67 addresses written by his 12 predecessors,” they conclude.
“The Flesch-Kincaid test is designed to assess the readability level of written text, with a formula that translates the score to a U.S. grade level. Longer sentences and sentences utilizing words with more syllables produce higher scores. Shorter sentences and sentences incorporating more monosyllabic words yield lower scores,” the University of Minnesota’s Eric Ostermeier explains.
Obama’s use of simple language is in part a reflection of his audience: the American voter in an election year. And it’s part of a larger trend in simpler State of the Union language as the speech as transitioned from a simple address to Congress into a prime-time televised event.

You just figured out we live in a country of lazy, anti-intellectual country who run home to watch american idol and other important programs.

Actually that only says that is what zer0bama thinks of his supporters. There is no indication in that report to support your sad attempt to criticize all Americans.
Come on, half the electorate believed bush would solve all their problems then in 2008 the other half thought obama was the answer.Most people think elections can really change things. The OWS people get it and thats why they are out in the streets.

Remember way back in the eighties when republicans disparaged the dumbing down of American schools? And then they learned how to exploit the poorly educated and gave us 30 years of center-right politics. But then again, "fair" isn't something one needs a college degree to have a sense of. It's not rocket science.

They-(the OWS people)- are in the streets, because they want what other people have earned.
1% of them have a legitimate complaint, the other 99% just want to mouth off, eat free food, party, and complain.
Fair weather friends, but, the Spring will let them pop their heads out of the ground, once again.

46 million on food stamps
Shrinking middle class
near 10 % inflation
18-23% real unemployment
Recovery is just around the corner... Just if we could spend some more.
Face it: more people on the street this year

Because ordinary workers that pay up to 30% on taxes will want to end his golden low tax rate !
Esspecially those civil and government employees, too, that they want to cut back on.
