Let's not forget those who scream about the "Nanny State" and then lobby Congress for special exemptions. Government is fine as long as it works for the rich and powerful, huh?

I'd say the government spends quite a bit on the non-rich and non-powerful. Regardless of that, here's what happens so often. A guy gets peeved about all the crap that he has to pay for that's silly, or that's abused, or poorly administered. Nothing he can do will change that. Eventually he throws his hands in the air and figures that he might as well milk it for all he can to offset what he's paying for.

And the rich and powerful keep harping that Social Security is bankrupt. I'm betting if they didn't have to match their employees' contributions they wouldn't care. After a lifetime of pushing us to accept less and less the least they can do is help with our retirement. That's socialism I can support.
