So far the plan is working! I am 69, retired when I was 49 and that has been 20 years of retirement so far!

I am grateful for opportunity the Teamsters and UPS made available to me as long as I did my part!

Reflections in my mind of what led up to my retirement and the things that have happened since was mostly a coordinated effort.

I hope that many of you that have retired or are still working towards the goal of a successful retirement have the same or better opportunity in your retirement.

Over the 20 years, how is the pension buying power holding up?

Its the same as it ever was!

I tell all that will listen:

Don't plan on retiring on what the Teamster pension plan is going to pay you!

I Knew for years before I retired the pension alone was not going to stand the test of time then add in no COLA! Or any way to increase your pension income you are more than likely going to need to go back to work at some point if not fully prepared for retirement. You are going to fall behind in normal conditions. The past five years have proven DON'T COUNT on NORMAL!

I have never worked again and hope I never have to!

If you are smart and still working as a teamster who will get a pension? Better get at addressing Teamster contracts that have no COLA to the pension plans>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NOW!

Sure I wanted the pension and knew its decreasing power, I needed the medical till I got to Medicare to make my plan work.
Just fortunate it worked out as planned.

Again I hope others are doing well!

No cuts---it's always been --and always will be--3k
was just wondering. The guys in our local that retired pre 2008 got hit with a decrease. Wasn't sure if that was a nationwide thing or not. There was language in the next contract to protect something like that for those retiring after 2008

As long as you worked any time 2008 or later your pension was guaranteed by UPS.
