Wow so much mis information in this thread... Does anyone read anything anymore?

The initial investment is 10-30k which is to cover expenses until you get rolling, travel to Seattle, 3 weeks training etc. Vans are discounted leases, discounts on equipment, uniforms, insurance packages etc. as well. You don't actually end up owning very much so if it doesn't work out you are only out ~30k max. If you aren't an idiot though it should be very easy to succeed with the amount of volume Amazon has and the fact that they have an interest in you succeeding.

And where did you get this information? Please post a link or upload a copy of your information.

I'm sure there is a very Amazon friendly contract involved and your name will be the personal guarantor on the leased vehicles. There would be 3 outcomes to this: fulfill the contract, sell or have someone assume the personal guarantee or file personal bankruptcy.

There is a severe shortage of OTR drivers currently - 50,000 I believe - one thing that will be hard is getting drivers that don't have a record or felony. Then keeping the drivers that they already have. What UPS should do is get rid of Wayfare furniture and let Amazon deliver that. Then see how they do. The Amazon idea looks good on paper - but it's like anything else - if getting a McDonald's francise was so wonderful- how come more people don't get one? Simple, they are a lot of work and if if you are not producing for Amazon I'm sure your "contract" will be ended. Should prove interesting.

Amazon has only to pay more than fedex ground to win, they are already paying more to line haul independent truckers.

When did they start paying more for linehaul? Someone posted a contract on truckers report a few years back and their pay package was low, IMO. I don't want to post it for legal reasons but a 300 mile run pays roughly $.50 more a mile than our mileage guys make.

A new contract driver asked me a question at Amazon about a year ago and we started talking. His pay was horrible, he was a new driver but was making like $130 a night for a 300 mile 12 hour run. I think he said $.40 a mile with no pay for delays.

Driver turnover is going to be dizzying. In a small van crammed with boxes, larger people are going to have a tougher time. And women are ALWAYS thoughtlessly getting injured or pregnant.

They'll need to hire scrawny, sinewy, never sick, quick healing little runts like me. Maybe I can sell Bezos my DNA so he can genetically engineer and hatch an army of his own delivery drivers.

Just feed 'em fruit, granola bars, beef jerky, Coca-Cola, and water. But NEVER show them pornography after midnight cuz they'll be useless the next day.
