Like others on here you seem to think of yourself as a "conservative". You know, low taxes, deregulation non government interference free enterprise etc. But you seem completely willing to put public dollars at risk in order to back a capitalist venture whose outcome is in no way certain or guaranteed. A more complex but still a form of socialism where the losses are socialized but the profits privatized which is exactly what we did with the investment banks, merchant banks, the car makers, etc.
Obviously we have different perspectives and expectations of government.
I am a classic Libertarian ... fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
I also am a strong Federalist that abhors a strong centralized National government.
I do not agree with the level of income redistribution.
I do think that redistribution of wealth is acceptable and desirable. The USA does not participate in wealth redistribution.

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
Wanting tax concessions when you've paid zero federal taxes for the past two years is arrogant and beyond what the public should be expected to tolerate.
That’s for the public to decide. That’s your opinion.

In my opinion they are reinvesting a massive amount. That’s why they pay no taxes. I don’t necessarily agree with it but I can see if you run the numbers the actually makes sense also.

Federal taxes are local taxes and they are taking allowed deductions just like every other business.
Federal taxes are local taxes LOL. Go check out the ITEP report. And BTW, local taxes......that's something you're not paying in the states anymore.

I've got a new tablet that's autocorrect crazy and for some reason doesn't want to add the n't to aren't. You've got DIDO saying he wouldn't live in an income tax state if he weren't tied to a job. A lot of retirees move to Florida, Texas, and Nevada for just that reason. What is it with you and someone trying to improve their situation with the resources they have? If our ancestors came to the States for a chance at a better life then why do you think it's wrong to go to another country for the same?

WRONG
My buddy in NYC (East Side Manhattan) makes around $7 million a year as an M&A lawyer.
He paid 54% in taxes of which Local NYC tax was a significant chunk ... over $700,000.

WRONG Went over your head again. What I was talking about was the fact that with VT now in Colombia he's not paying any local municipal taxes.

I don't worry about or concern myself with things I can't control or change.
I do think he, along with people like you, are very entertaining and usually quite humorous.
At some point in your life, if you are lucky and work at it, can have this great outlook on the world.

Same AOC argument.

If I give you a tax break , I'm doing so on future earnings you generate .
AOC tried to make the same argument you're making that NY City was somehow already spending money that has not been generated yet.
you socialist sounds like you need to take Economics 101 courses.

Muddy and unclear paragraph and out on a tangent from the ongoing conversation.

I know ... you are doing the best you can.
Carry on.

It’s not even about ‘socialism’, lulz.

Cuomo and DiBlase made a back-room deal with Amazon, and they didn’t involve the community.

We could have a discussion about whether or not an $800B company actually needs a tax break, but that’s neither here nor there.

It’s not all about the alleged tax-base increase, it’s more about what actually happens on the ground...

Not a great track record with these ‘incentives’ given to corporations vis-a-vis actual benefits.

On a side-note, Amazon walked away, immediately.

One theory is that Amazon actually didn’t care very much, and the entire exercise was a rather elaborate data collection maneuver.

In either case, the citizens on the ground were pissed that there wasn’t any type of community outreach, and that the Guvnor and the Mayor worked it all out in the shadows.

Why in the world would any municipality subsidize the richest corporation in the history of corporations?

Amazon should be happy to land somewhere, which is a large undertaking, for Amazon and the town.

Queens wasn’t ready for that huge of an influx of workers, and, Amazon wasn’t ready or willing to mitigate the disruption that would cause.

Again, why in the world should cities subsidize companies coming in, where the future potential benefits outweigh the immediate clstrfk?

Don’t think
You’d like it.

Nashville is exploding and becoming very yuppie
Not in Nashville ... down south 40 miles or so south of Franklin.
I would live out in the country and go into Nashville to catch concerts a couple times a week.
Go into Franklin for eating out.

I like Yuppies as well as I like any other type.
My day is perfect if I don't interact with another person, in person, especially my wife.
