The way I looked at it is.....

Take the money you will receive per month when retired. Subtract that from the amount you will make a month working. This is your new pay. Divide that by the number of hours worked. Could be around the $10-12/hr mark. Would you do this job for $10-12/hr? Of course, there are other things to consider such as benefits, lots of overtime, etc. On the other hand, there are considerations for health, time left in life to do the things you always wanted to do, etc.

Although staying an extra 5 years might gain you a better monthly payout, it would take you many, many years to catch up to the 5 years of pension you could have been drawing had you left then.

Life is short.....why work yourself to death? I took the money and ran. Peace of mind is worth more than any amount of money.
