We were lucky to grow up during the muscle car era in high school. Most of the cool kids (mostly jocks)
had them. chevelle ss, gto, mustang mach1's and fastbacks, camaro ss, and others.

I had a 65 VW

friday night was show off night at the high school parking lot, burnouts and stuff. sometimes there would be a challenge and we would all go out to the local highway out of town that was know as the drag strip.

a lot of drinking and driving in those days. lost several good friends from accidents. it was tolerated by the cops and everyone else. if you were pulled over and everyone in the car was drinking , the cops would just take the beer and tell you to be careful driving home.

I can't find the picture, but on the news this morning it showed a Walmart parking lot where someguy ran on top of a '59 vette. It was just sick to see.

It looks like the guy was parked far away, but the other car was cutting through the lot....across the spaces instead of driving in the rows.

I saw that last week. The engine was rated at more like 180 or 190 but they checked with a dyno and it was only 158. I think the Vette was something like 900.

people use to put chevy 350's in the Vega.

My first car was a '72 Vega that that my brother gave me after he overheated the engine and warped the block. I put a 350 small block and a narrowed 12-bolt Chevelle rear end in it.
