Check your withholding on your paychecks

It was discovered that as of January 1st, our local county income tax withholding is incorrect (in our little part of the country, we have Federal/State/County tax withheld.) The county tax being withheld is last year's rate. Some counties keep their tax rates the same as prior years, while other counties increase occasionally, rarely will a county tax rate go down.

Management has been contacted but still no resolution. Obviously, with so many departments having been outsourced, the left-hand doesn't even know who the right-hand is! Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up so they can look at their checks and adjust accordingly. In our case, the increase was a hefty one so everyone may end up owing tax at year-end unless this withholding error gets corrected soon.

ummmmmm
YOU control what percentage of your paycheck is withheld, not UPS
You can do it through UPSERS or walk into HR

nowhere special
They screwed ours up a couple of years ago

They was taking a local tax out by our ups work address and not our home address
The city here put the squeeze on UPS and started taking local tax out of everyones. They justified it by saying the drivers spent most of their time working in the city. Drivers who lived outside the city and had country routes had to fight to get their money back.

In the state where I reside, when you submit the state withholding form to UPS, you indicate what county you live in and what county you work in. They are supposed to withhold the county tax based upon where you reside. If there is no county tax for the county I reside in, then it is withheld based upon the county I work in (obviously this may be different for other states.) The company (UPS) is responsible for withholding county tax based upon the county indicated on the withholding form. They failed to update their payroll system to show the current tax rate for my county as well as other counties in our state that changed their tax rate effective January 1st. That is where the problem lies. There is no HR in our building. The manager has been notified but so far, no changes have happened.

Do you need an air compressor or tire gauge
