Cultural Appreciation

Geez! What a crock of thought :poop:!

I forget you haven't reached puberty yet.

Google Amerika and Jefferson Airplane or Steppenwolf and a lot of 60's and 70's anti-establishment culture.

Amerika: spelling used to suggest that U.S. society is variously fascist, repressive, racist, etc.

Righhhhhhhht, that’s where he was going.

It's actually German spelling of America.
Rammstein had a song by that name but that was much later.
In high school, I had a notebook with Amerika on it.
I had a cool 3 inch blue denim canvas binder notebook.
Thanks for the memories.

Maybe ... for 12% of the American population.

Perhaps he’s speaking to that 12%.

Sure is taking up a lot of bandwidth, isn’t it?

Let me add something:

White people arguing about the validity of a Black Mans’ experience.

Dude is going to sell some records, no doubt, and isn’t that what you want?

I really don't care ... sorry.

I don't know what you guys are arguing about but I'll just say Donald Glover is amazing.

Saw him perform live a few years ago and he killed it. Community was a really funny show, so is his standup. I know he was also a writer for 30 rock and that show was hilarious. Can't wait to see him play Lando in the new Star wars. The guy can do it all.

You postulated that white men argue about the validity of a Black Mans’ experience.

I said I don't care about the validity of a Black Mans’ experience.

Why shouldn't I reply that I don't care about the validity of a Black Mans’ experience.

Sooo, when 'AmeriKa' was introduced, you stepped right up and fetched some culturally appropriate 60's nomenclature to defend the poster...

I believe you said that 'AmeriKa' was just a spelling to suggest that U.S. society is racist, repressive, etc.

When shown a Black man's take on that, you say "I don't care about the validity of a Black Mans' experience", ignoring the fact that it's an update on the fact that U.S. society is racist and repressive.

What am I missing?

I'm interested in your critique.

'Amerika' implies to me either a potential KKK association or a transliteration between Russian and American-English, which is common with pop-culture items, especially T-shirts.

Is that where you were going?

I got no Russian themes from the video, ymmv.

I did pick up multiple social critiques:

Media, black entertainment culture, sensationalism of violence against blacks, differing measures of media receptivity of black-on-black vs. white-on-black violence, pornification of black-on-black violence, police ennui, the selfie/video
culture, guns, etc.

Did you like the video?

Hit me back.
He's poking fun at you clowns. You quite possibly aren't old enough to understand the history, even though you claim to be a history buff.
