However the conservative side is spinning it, the Kurds in northern Syria were modern and democratic. They're exactly the kind of friends we should want to keep in the region.

No, why would I? 11,000 Kurds died and 20,000 were injured when they led the way in helping us fight ISIS. The Kurds of northern Syria were our friends and allies.

The Kurds of Northern Iraq are our friends and allies. We haven't been in Syria that long and don't have a commitment there comparable to Iraq. And Russia has already stepped in between the Kurds and Turkey so no ethnic cleansing.
