What do the FedEx Ground drivers think about this article? Accurate? What's not accurate?

"In recent weeks, there has been a plethora of articles posted on UPS and FedEx going in different directions, with UPS reporting top-notch Q3 earnings and FedEx Ground floundering. A recent analysis on FedEx Ground from Seeking Alpha suggests that FedEx Ground is suffering from Post-COVID operational Inefficiencies. However, the problems at FedEx Ground may be more numerous than being reported and the capacity/labor issues may be more severe than being suggested."

FedEx ground has been running helpers all year round and they have been working all their drivers 6 to 7 days a week with barely a day off and not making a lot of money.

“A Race to the Bottom.”
Think about it, you have to work 60-70 hrs a week as a driver to earn a living. And the company comes back with a; “profits aren’t what they should be.” Hah….

That's why UPS drops some of its shippers. If they are not making a certain amount of money they don't want the business

Incredibly accurate.

True story. A contractor in our building walked away from his contract in another building. Management there started threatening that they were at the point where they could take his contact. Finally he shrugged and said, “How’s 5pm tomorrow night sound?”

Lol. Talk about management squirming. But the guy was serious. He owned it as an investment and the investment wasn’t paying off. It’s going to continue to happen.

And yeah. What did Fedex make last quarter? $2 billion? And stock dropped because it didn’t meet forecast? Lol. Yeah. Whatever.

The whole stock vs income is some serious BS. Apple stock went down after they released their last quarter earnings which were......20 BILLION DOLLARS.

Just telling it like it is
What happened to IWBF? I keep expecting another, "My business is amazing, no labor shortage here, this will be the easiest peak ever!!" post.
With him you have to read between the lines. Easiest peak ever means for himself only. Sure is a great peak when you’re just laying on the couch playing video games, scratching your balls and drinking beer all day while the other guys do all the heavy lifting. It’d be funny if his crew all walked out at the same time.

Simply reaffirms what some of us have known for quite some time. It's a poor setup to begin with. At the same time however Roadway knew the severe limitations that RPS had and operated within it's limited capabilities by staying strictly B to B.
When Fat Freddy got hold of it he tried to turn it into CHUPS. Which as you know stands for "Cheap UPS". Needless to say that it was only going to be a matter of time until you burn through your supply of cheap throwaway labor.
All the while the birth rate had been slowing combined with a growing unwillingness on the part of the smaller in number workforce to take labor intensive low paying service jobs. They wanted better more promising employment and set out to do what was necessary to become qualified for that better employment.

All the major carriers will bumble and stumble their way through another peak simply because shippers have no other options. The carrier who is best able to hold onto it's market share and find a way to best retain employees will come away just fine. The others? SOL.
