First time discharged

So I was discharged 2 weeks ago for time management dishonesty. I've filed many 9.5 grievances and stupidly, I got caught stealing 5 minutes one day and 6 minutes the next after lunch. I got a local hearing next Friday to try and go back. Head Sup is still pissed. The BA said they had 22 drivers last month get fired for the same thing and they all got their jobs back. My steward says they will get me back, but based on how the Sups are, it sounds like theyre upset. If I go back I plan to be more efficient and stay off radar and get odd 9.5 list. At this point all I care about is getting my job back. He said he they dont take me back Friday, then the next week ill have to fly to Nashville for the panel. Its scary as ill lose everything i built and our living conditions will plummet. Anyone had any experience with this, or at the panel? What to expect? Anything, thanks

Why are they firing drivers over 5 minutes? I've never seen anyone fired for "stealing time" related to break recording.

You guys have sups that follow drivers and time you and then compare it to the break punch? Is that how they got you? You couldn't claim you were going through load looking for misloads or something?

The way my steward explained it, if they see you go into a store after lunch, they assume that thats not the only time you steal time. That if they would have kept following me then they would have found me stealing alot more time, which isn't true. I bust my tail out there. But I needed some nicotene. What I should do, and would im the future is do all my stuff during lunch. Or take a 45 min lunch ans use the other 15 for stuff luke that, like running out of water ect

So they were following you two different days? And fired you for both days? Why didn’t they fire you the first day for stealing time as they say? And I would love to see them use that argument at a panel that surely you’re stealing more time when they’re not around, and that’s their reasoning for this cardinal sin of yours that did not require progressive discipline.

Did they see what you went into the store for? Pretty sure you were just taking a piss. 😉

They didn't see, but yes I took a piss and tried number 2, cause I felt like I had to, but I guess I was too dehydrated and it didn't come out. Probably from the nicotne
So again they watched you two different days and let you do it and get away with it?

Certainly, they’re being nitpicky, but having said that buy your cigarettes on your own time. I’m sure you’ll be back. The bigger problem is why was there 22 people being fired for these nitpicky things?

They said the 1st day they should have fired me, but they observed me again after lunch, and I was in my truck seat like a fool on my phone(had just recieved terrible news)and navigating the diad to set up my next 10 stops. Ans my business stops are all over the diad so it takes time to navigate the screen.

Well not sure about those other 22, but the BA said when file 9.5, if you clock out for lunch it needs to be before ylu step off the car, and when you clock back in it needs to be as you're about to start the truck. That way no second is stolen.

He also told me 1 guy got fired for stealing 2 minutes. Thats insane

Lol. So did they take you off car instantly the second day? Or let you keep working and fire the next day? Were you on your phone or were you navigating your diad because that’s not stealing time? Also get a Bluetooth headset.

😂 these management people certainly seem to have a lot of time to watch you guys.

Maybe they just needed to see a few minutes here and there to justify a discharge. I don't know

Nope if it’s that egregious to terminate you, they should’ve pulled you off Car the first day. Remember, you’re a thief according to them

All these nitpicky things sound like management retaliating, For 9.5 and grievances need to start being filed.

They let me work, and the next day they sent me home with my tail between my legs. Read my the riot act and everything. I have a headset but my wife was texting me about our kid. But to UPS that doesnt matter. Family issues, tik tok, someone just died, they pay for us to work so it is what it is

Yeah, they totally screwed that up. You’re such a rotten thief that they let you keep working and stealing from them,twice lol. You’ll be fine. Manage your time better by the way.
