FLASH: Tucker Carlson Out At Fox News

Perhaps the Murdoch's came to the conclusion that present and future law suit damage awards would be greater than the ad dollars Carlson would generate for them.
A simple case where Carlson had become the Fedex Express of network news....Too expensive to continue to operate.
Same thing happened to Dobbs and O'Reilly . They're there and then they're not.
So you're thinking that firing Tucker could mitigate future lawsuits? They'll have to pay Dominion $790 million and by sacrificing Tucker they might get a discount and only have to pay Smartmatics $500million or $600 million?

Still comes down to dollars and cents. As history has shown cable news hosts only have so much economic juice in them.
Fox News by it's own admission is a not a news network but an entertainment forum. And like any entertainment show after awhile people get tired of looking at the same face saying the same thing.

Simple economics. If you ain't making Rupert Murdoch any money you ain't going to be sitting in front of one of his cameras for very long.

From O'Reilly's commentary.....

This was a shock to Tucker Carlson and his staff. They were putting together Monday night's program. They were actively involved with with getting things together and boom, Tucker Carlson is history at the Fox News show.

There are a number of things in play. On 60 Minutes last night, a man named Ray Epps tells the audience that Tucker Carlson ruined his life. That's a pretty strong assertion on 60 Minutes. A lawsuit will be coming against Tucker Carlson and Fox News from Ray Epps. Carlson hypothesized that he was involved with staging the January 6th riot.

There are a number of lawsuits going to be filed shortly against Fox News board of directors. People who sit on the board by shareholders, people who own the stock. So FNC is aware those lawsuits are coming. And the board of directors themselves, the individuals sitting on the board. They're going to have to defend themselves. That's big.
Smartmatic, which I don't think is a very important lawsuit since the Smartmatic Company only had one county in the 2020 election where the machines were used. So they're suing for 2.6 billion. That's just insane. They'll settle, I believe, with Fox, but not nearly what Dominion got. But that's an opinion of mine.

But the fact is there this litigation against Fox News is ongoing and destructive. Tucker Carlson is the lightning rod.

He made a very shrewd decision. He decided to go to get viewers from the committed right. A lot like Rush Limbaugh did. And he went into that precinct and he programmed for those Americans. His base was about 3 million people, which in this day and age puts him ahead of most other cable news outfits.
In doing that, his commentary became, in many cases, conspiratorial. You can make a lot of money doing that. And there's nothing wrong with doing that. As long as you tell people this is my opinion and speculation, and what I think. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't disparage that.
The conspiracy industry is huge. Russian collusion. That was insane. And every news organization except Fox embraced that conspiracy, did they not?

So Carlson had a very successful run at Fox and was very influential among committed conservatives. They're different than casual conservatives. They're right there every day. They want to know what is going on.
At the same time. Fox News changed dramatically from a tightly structured operation run by a guy named Roger Ailes, who is no longer there to what they call fiefdoms. Each show did its own thing and it maintained its lead over CNN, completely hapless. And MSNBC, which is as crazy left as you can get.

Of course Billy Loofa OReilly pines for the good old days and puts Roger Ailes on a pedestal.

Do you have a comment about what he actually said about Carlson being let go?

From what I'm reading Murdoch was unhappy with Tucker's coverage of J6. The night before he was fired "60 Minutes" ran a segment on Ray Epps who Tucker pretty much accused of being an FBI plant on J6. Epps said his life was ruined. FOX just shelled out a lot of money on Dominion and is facing other lawsuits and Murdoch was worried Epps was about to file suit too.

Your assertion that FOX News is just entertainment isn't accurate.

Smartmatics had machines in just one county. They can sue for $2.7 billion but likely their payout will be considerably less than Dominion's.

Murdoch doesn't like populists like Tucker.
The guy is a milquetoast center right corporatist who is still butthurt Jeb Bush wasn't President.

Schumer went on national TV and demanded Murdoch remove Carlson.

Then Tucker flat out criticized fox's decision to push the big pharma narrative for advertising dollars.

Honestly this is great news for conservatism.
Fox news is centrist crap at this point anyways.

Making up J6 "facts" so they fit the Right Wing narrative is both lying and entertainment, as in showing you heavily edited footage so J6 is no big deal, as in not an attempt to overthrow the government. That is not journalism, but is is TASS/Pravda level propaganda. Carlson is also a major part of a lawsuit filed by ex-Fox head of booking Abby Grossberg.
Amazing how deeply into the cult you are immersed.

Guess who's got an even older audience.

MSNBC - Wikipedia

"A 2019 Pew Research Center survey showed that among Americans who named MSNBC as their main source for political news, 74% are ages 50 or older, with 44% ages 65 or older. 95% of those who named MSNBC as their main political news source identify as Democrats; among the eight most commonly named main sources for political and election news by US adults, MSNBC and Fox News have the most partisan audiences.[80]"

He's expected to file his own lawsuit against Fox for refusing to pay him the severance pay he thinks he's entitled to.
