My check goes into two different accounts but the people upstairs in the office told me there's no way for me to change it

Yup, if you try to change it, they delete the direct deposit. And no getting it back.
They suck.
I found it (and I forget already). Had something to do with government auto loans or something....
It's no big deal I just use that money to put into my Roth IRA or if I need to go to the bank and get a couple bucks out I have the money there

Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) is insurance for the difference between the loan amount and what an asset is currently worth. Lease a new car drive it off the lot and continue use it until right before 1st payment comes due and then wreck it. Insurance isn’t going to pay 100% of loan. GAP insurance covers it.

FYI...it should be Principles not Practices.
...and it means you can't send money to Russian Mobsters Bank where they bribe, torture, cheat, and steal and thus risk the accreditation of the company sending them money. That's why they need the account to follow GAAP standards.
It's all about not messing up their audit compliance. Not about protecting your 2nd deposit from bad actors.
