Apply for short term disability... usually around 350 an week take home after taxes, 26 weeks maximum.

That is because our current short term disability does not cover the lost wages...most of us full timers clear a thousand a week, now cut that by a third. If your disability lasts 26 weeks you are really going to be hurting financially.

Always smart to build up an emergency fund just in case.

It seems unlikely you can work someplace multiple decades and not have something happen. I’ve been blessed so far.

I was told there is no such thing as getting hurt away from work. The job increases susceptibility to injuries by weakening the body.

Depending how long you will be out. You only get short term if you’re out for 2+ weeks I believe to qualify for it I believe?
I was out for 3 weeks but only paid for 2 because short term doesn’t pay out first week.
