Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree
tell him thanks from Canada :peaceful:

The ribbon has been there since he left, and as much as I love my little star pin, I will be happy to place it back in my jewelry box. I have to say, people have been very supportive; so thank you, I will pass along your thanks.

I can only imagine the excitement and relief you feel. Tell him thank you from all of us, and a big thank you to you and your family for your sacrifice. Most of us really appreciate what you have done.

I don't think I can begin to imagine how happy and relieved you must be.
Tell him; "thank you for your service". :wink2:

I also list Norman Rockwell as one of my favorite artists, along with Andy Warhol (talk about extremes!) I enjoy Rockwell's depiction of a simpler time in our history.

I would also like to take a moment to welcome your son back and thank him for his service to our country.

So, I just spoke to my son .... he'll be home from Iraq on Thursday!!!
I am definitely one happy mom!

smf0605,
This is fabulous news! I can't imagine the anxiety you must have been experiencing during your son's tour in Iraq!

I am thrilled that you we be seeing your son very soon. When you get a chance please thank him for me and my fellow Americans for being so brave, for serving our country and being a true Patriot.

Most of all is how BRAVE your son is that impresses me. He wasn't drafted to fight in Iraq, he signed up. Right? God bless you, because you have raised a great man. All of our men in Iraq deserve HERO status in my book.

Its good to know your son is coming back in one piece. There are 3000+ mothers that are not as fortunate as you.

Its for this reason I wish UPS would celebrate veterans day as a holiday. They celebrate new year's eve which is ridiculous because they don't honor our great military men and woman.

That is fabulous news!!!

One of the neatest days I've had was the day the local guard unit came home. I punched out on break and watched them as the were escorted through town by the sheriff, police and fire depts. The rest of the day, as I drove by 'welcome home' parties, I did the 'shave and a haircut' on the horn and waved.

How long till you get to see him???? Our hometown unit had a 30 day debrief before they really came home.

I don't actually know when I will see him, but, right now I am just happy to get him closer to home.

I thank you all for your very kind words, and when I finally let go of him from the first hug I am going to give him, I'll give him one from all of you.

Congrats on his safe return!! Can you give us a little background on him? Are you the UPSer, or is he? If he is, when does he have to return to work? Where was he posted?

I can't even begin to imagine the relief you feel!
