have his mommy write him a note, thanks alot jerk. My son happens to be handling it very well on his own. He is not going to admit to something he didn't do. He knows how to deal with these people. I'm sorry i wanted to know more, as the whole thing seemed a scam and the fingerprint thing ?? come on it's like TV? i am thankful to all for the great info , i will tell him. He finally talked to the head of the building (who of course was on vacation at the time) and he believes that he has worked out a great compromise with him. (since he's leaving anyway) . Again thanks to all but the one jerk. I appreciate knowing that they do this all the time, that they are BSing. thanks to all again.

No kiddin. I know it's not easy but he's 26, not 18. I was surprised when the OP said 26. Heck, I was working @ UPS when i was 18, married and bought first home @ 22 and driving by 25.

If they had the goods on him, he would have been fired. Period. They don't. He needs to finish up, maybe resign a little earlier. UPS almost never fires anyone with offering them to resign. Unless they have absoulute proof. Even then to bypass the grievance procedure they will. Make sure he gets any vacation time he has coming when he resigns. He should also make sure he has a steward with him when he resigns. UPS should al

Omg, i cannot believe, i ask a stupid little question, and yes got some great responses. But telling me to bud out, asking me to write a note? i hope i can delete all this, i'm embarassed that you are all considered adults! I figured it would be best to ask other workers across the country. I had a conversation with him, he told me what was going on, as his father died when he was 12 and he has crohns disease and i am close to him, he wanted to know if he should get a lawyer as he DIDN'T steal a thing! I told him no lawyer. he lives in the middle of no where pennsylvania!!!They treat employees horrible there, not just ups , almost every employer in the area! They give parking tickets out to employees of some companies... etc.. stupid stuff that shouldn't be happening and there are no jobs there. He has been a good worker for them, considering he shows up at 4am in the morning, with 2 feet of snow on the ground. there are only a few that haven't quit in the past year, i think you should all know that/ that is why he is moving to long island , to have better luck with a career. he doesn't necessarily want to stay with ups, he wants to go to college now as he sees (since his back hurts) that ups isn't the best job in the world. the older drivers tell him that all the time, to run and get a better job, go to school.
I am so sorry , i inquired about this, he doesn't think they have anything on him, he isn't resigning. he didn't do anything wrong, he has been using the shop steward. apparantly he has been doing everything right. just checking.... oh and sorry he doesn't own a home by age 19, what year was that. I don't know if you read the paper, but the economy sucks right now, there are no jobs, people with MBA's are even out of work. And on long island where we're from, good luck trying to buy a home, which costs a minimum of 350,000 with an 8K tax bill, and a 300 electric bill. thanks to the good advice as to the rest eff off

I would not take it personal with some of these posters. They do go overboard at times and do not think before they post without knowing the entire situation. You are just being a good mother and if the rest of them had a mother like you their mothers would be doing the same thing because it is only natural for a good mother to take care of her child regardless of their age.

News Flash - people steal often they all say they didn't do it.

It's amazing that so many people can make a judgement and give advice based upon nothing more than second hand heresay.

News Flash - UPS harasses innocent workers often while saying they have evidence to support their claims even when they don't.

FB, I'm not sure which trench you're in, but if you work for the brown army in any capacity you're in one trench or another.

Us hourlies find this story so familiar because it HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

Do people steal? Clearly. And, if caught, they should be escorted out the nearest door.

But is everyone who's accused of stealing guilty simply because they've been accused? I sincerely doubt it.

As a parent, my main concern would be the troubles with the back pain. I would suggest he does something to address that. Even at the age of 26 there could be serious damage to his back. IMO, he needs to report that and be seen by a doctor before leaving UPS.

Sounds to me like your son is handling this the way he wants and you posted here for support b/c it's a bit freaky to have your kid, no matter what age, in an abusive relationship. Kudos, I think you did the right thing, ignore the jealous jerks. Wish my mom was around to be a little over protective!!!!

As the economy circles the bowl, ppl will have to put up with more and more crap to remain employed. Sorry for us all.

as a side note... he didn't post himself, cause he has a life outside of ups, unlike the ones that were on here saying stupid things. I'm sure those few are the most wonderful parents of all! LOL. I was more concerned as he thought he needed a lawyer. I thought, since it supposed to be such a big and wonderful company to work for , they wouldn't do this stuff. but as i have learned here, UPS does all sorts of things way wrong. I am truly amazed. even heard from someone in florida (who also had back problems , and surgery) that they followed her all the time, and then accused her of stealing a money order. she got fired, the union didn't help. but if a money order was stolen, why no police , why no crime? she says when you join ups , you basically give em your life. Drivers work long hours, often don't see their families, have many injuries, and they are so top heavy, they have too many bigwigs trying to stir things up , all the time. in my son's case, It turns out, the main boss was also on vacation, so the security guy was trying to undermine him or something like that. whatever, i can only say , wow, don't think i'd want to work there. (i'm a nurse and it's the same crap, yes you get paid well, but we have to put up with mega amt of crap, pardon the pun) . they like to try to fire people who get FMLA , as they are unreliable. I think he's best going about his plan, finishing out the summer, and moving on. hopefully the back issue will work it's way out. thanks to all the sincere responders.

They try to fire everyone. The manner in which they go after each of us depends on how much of a pain in the butt you are. Conversely, if you are a really big Jo-lo booty shaking, donkey butt lookin', badonkadonk holding butt, then they will leave you alone.

LOL

Yep, they try to fire and harass everyone / anyone.

Your in the clear if you're an obvious drag or a minority.

I got harassed today for not loading a car that would break my egress, thus safety issue. I'm filing tomarrow, and the wheels on the bus go round and round.

News Flash - This site and its postings are based upon assuming what the poster writes as being true. Very few post, if any, are verifiable.

It's amazing that a person with such insight like yourself would waste their second hand opinion on second hand hearsay.

What facts do you have that contradict what was said?

The previous poster stated minorities and I assume because I do not want to put words in his mouth the gay community at UPS does not receive harrassment and discharge and those facts are false. UPS does not discriminate when it comes to harrassment period.

Just out of curiosity..... How do they know the fingerprints are his? Does UPS now have a team of forensic scientists analyzing fingerprints and DNA?

They should make this into a TV program "C.S.I. - UPS"

When I was hired, 25 years ago for a part time position, I went through the process of being bonded.
Part of that process was being fingerprinted.
That being said, I'm going with the bluff theory.
