You can also take an LOA or leave of absence without pay. Depends on the state but it’s more liberal about reasons, doesn’t have to be medical

HIPAA defines who a covered entity is, and only those entities have any reason to get at your health information, and they still have to have your consent to do so. Non-covered entities do not have any statutory support in requiring that you divulge private medical information. You are protected from discrimination based on a perceived medical status by the ADA, and any coercion on the part of the employer to pressure you into divulging information you have every right not to is a common law invasion of privacy tort, and remedies for damages can be sought in a civil suit. This is why every employer who puts these rule into effect very quickly does an about face and rescinds them.

What gives them the right to force you to divulge what is considered privileged information? They can ask you to volunteer it, and they can make a policy saying you have to give proof of vaccination, but if they try to enforce it, they open themselves up to liability.
