Hostile Environment

I've been threatened twice in the past week by a sorter and tonight, an unloader. One got in my face, nose to nose, and threatened to kick my ass. The other, threatened to either kick or kill my ass. Couldn't understand his ghetto slang though. Both times reported to management. First guy, was told to just stay away from each other, like I did something wrong. Nothing happened to the 2nd guy. He was just sent to another truck. Now I still have to work with these two guys. Talk about a hostile environment.

And no, I made no threatening comments in return. I know better.

You need to find a steward or just go to the head security guy and tell them you were threatened. At my hub that :censored2: don't fly. If someone threatens someone else here, they are escorted out of the building. There is no reason you should be subjected to something like that at work. Management is failing on their part. I would also call the 1800 number and give a complaint about management not handling the situation. You might also want to step back and make sure you aren't being a dick head. If you are running your mouth, or tattle telling, or just being a :censored2: then maybe you should knock it off. I mean it is kind of strange you have two guys getting in your face.

Nope, wasn't being a dick, running my mouth, tattle telling, or being a :censored2:. First guy got in my face because he was mad that my fan, that I had turned on 20 mins before he ever stepped foot in the building, dared to blow wind on him. This guy shows up 20 mins late for work every single night. Without asking anyone around him, just starts turning off fans. So I had my unloader turn my fan back on. Thats when he turned around, started cussing, then got in my face. Pretty much says what the 2nd guy says below....

I'm a sorter. 2nd guy is an unloader. Got paired up with him. Things are going good for about the first 10 mins. Then another unloader for some reason goes into the truck and starts unloading. So now I'm by myself with two unloaders. I start to get backed up, boxes are falling off onto the walk way. I say "hold up." "Hey, I'm by myself, could only one of you unload please?"
Next thing I hear is "What the friend* you say to me mother friend?" "You got a friend problem you little buddy* a** mother friend?" "I'll come over there and kick/kill your mother friend* a**."

So yeah. Both times over stupid :censored2:. Both are hot heads. Well actually, I don't know why the 2nd guy went off on me. There it is. Don't know why tempers are running so high in my hub, and why I keep attracting all the negativity in it. My thoughts on why management did nothing more about it, is its almost peak season time, and they don't want to lose anybody. Think tempers are bad now? I imagine they're going to be 10 times worse in the coming weeks.

No I do not. I'd rather not say which hub I work in. Can't be sure who is looking at all of this. Could cause further problems, or hostile action towards me.
Sounds like your coworkers have it in for you. You may want to think back to what you did to deserve all of this. Maybe you did nothing and you are the target just because we got to get somebody. If it gets much worse think about finding a better job.

I've gotten 1 warning letter and 2 verbal warnings over the years regarding the friend-bomb. Best practice is to 'watch your mouth.'

Filed on this and won. Decision in the books. We work at a trucking company. Cursing is not a disciplinary offense. If you use the friend bomb in normal conversation, there is nothing UPS can do about it.

If you call your sup an :censored2: though, or get into a heated exchange with someone else and the friend bombs are thrown back and forth, this is a different situation and can lead to disciplinary action.

Just saying the friend'ing wife was a bi**ch to a coworker cannot lead to disciplinary action no matter who hears it.
