How often does your Union Agents visit?

How often do you see your union leadership? How much is too much or too little? We see ours probably once a month but everyone is strong at my hub.

If everyone is strong at your hub then the BA probably has enough faith in the Stewards to run it and he backs them.

If you are the only person that feels the need to see or talk to the BA more, then reach out to him.

I'm guessing most people like to be left alone and "If it ain't broke"

I personally don't care how often they "visit", as long as they are hearing grievances, communicating with their stewards, returning phone calls, and doing the work.

Far too often, those agents who "visit often", are what is called a "coffee and donuts" agent.....

.....all bark and bravado, with no real benefit to the membership.

In the end, in my Local, if you're one of the 8 chosen from 4,600 to leave the truck to represent; I feel it should be viewed as an honor more than a job.

With this in mind, those who throw their hat in the ring and are chosen, are now duty bound to go above and beyond.

Each Local decides what that means, every three years.

Our Union Hall is about a mile from the Hub and anyone can drop in during business hours and talk to a BA if one is in. Otherwise a phone call and she will get back to you either that day or the next. Always gets back to you.

Our BA is in the building once every 2 months. Could be more but it's a big building so I might not see him. I also know he has a meeting with his stewards once a month in the mornings. He covers 4 buildings so I'd say that's pretty good. He is also good at getting back to you with in a day if you call him.

Good BA's support their Stewards, and vice versa.

That comes in handy at election time.

Election time only.. fat lazy bastard

How do you get all of your personal grievances heard ?

I don't know a BA (in any Local) that is exclusively assigned to just UPS.

Everyone has additional assignments.

Just taking the time to answer your cell phone, or returning calls in a timely

manner.... goes a long way. Personally, I would rather visit the barns and talk

to the members. It boosts their confidence in you (by seeing you) and it's

an opportunity to head off problems.

Who wants to sit at the Union Hall all day ?

Boring.

To be honest I'm almost 100% certain our BA is exclusively assigned to just UPS. But hey I've been wrong before.

Was weekly for quite a while, if not weekly i'd say they atleast stop by once a month. Usually 2 of them, always nice to see them stop by and show their presence.

Our b.a is seen on site probably every week, usually for hearings.the b.a is supposed to walk the sorts once a month which they don't always do.as a steward I would like for them to be more visible and touch base with us more often but I do understand they have a full plate.
