rickyb,
What the solution then ?
Gov't control ?
Barter system ?
Wild roaming tribes taking anything they want ?
Come on you're a learned person , Just what is the perfect solution ?
i dunno some of us on the left are humble enough that we dont actually know the solutions it must be tested. theres a long list.

certainly worker controlled jobs is part of the solution. theres more to economic freedom than choosing between which economic dictator treats you the best.

might have to get rid of the state eventually and all that concentrated centralized power.

i like michael hudsons idea of writing of the debts.

banning exploitation altogether might be part of the solution, which as ive said before exploitation is common to state socialism, capitalism, feudalism, and slavery.

not talking about climate change, but how fast we are using up resources under the system of private property is also not sustainable. so we definitely need more library type systems where property is more efficiently used and shared.

stop spending so much money on war.

stop spending so much money on war.

So we should have no defense spending at all .
Some of that defense spending is for ships that exactly rescue sailors from burning and sinking ships . So we should just write them off as not worth saving ?

I'm not sure anyone is advocating 'no defense spending at all'.

Lulz, that would be ridiculous.

now thats a different argument and an important difference between slavery and capitalism. but capitalism and slavery have lots in common like providing food for the workers, profits, etc.

People like to bitch about their work. UPS has not cornered the market on employee complaints.
certainly im just using it as an example because newfie is well familiar with UPS and its shortcomings.

that goes across the board for most jobs and the system capitalism is partly responsible.

My parents benefited well from capitalism. In 1987, their businesses had 8 mil in assets and employed 22 full time people.

Employees working for a company under socialism don't complain?

of course theres going to be disagreements but the difference is all of the workers will be able to vote at their jobs what they want, whereas now you just take orders and the capitalists make all the decisions.

ok but even so capitalism was pushing the environment to collapse, and they had to live in a society with all the negative consequences of capitalism

"We are no more immune to the forces of decay and death than were ancient Athens, ancient Egypt, ancient Rome, the Mayans, the Aztecs, Easter Island, Europe’s feudal society of lords and serfs, and the monarchal empires in early 20th-century Europe. Human nature has not changed. We will react as those before us reacted when they faced collapse. We will be increasingly consumed by illusion. We will seek to stop time, to prevent change, to embrace magical thinking in a desperate effort to return to an idealized past. Many will suffer.

This time, collapse will be planetwide. There will be no new lands to conquer, no new peoples to subjugate, no new natural resources to plunder and exploit. Climate change will teach us a brutal lessen about hubris." - chris hedges

Agent Smith: I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure.

Let's look at
Socialist Venezuela
No toilet paper , food lines, blackouts and starting soon no phone service .
The gov't decides which companies can get US Dollars to pay their suppliers and no payments mean no international services .
The blackouts are from the state owned power company which uses water as it source and Venezuela is in a drought .
And now the world’s most renowned banknotes, coins and paper printing house, De La Rue, based in England, demanded that the Central Bank of Venezuela pay up US$262,647,997 in fees for printing money and passports, among other goods.
So what does the gov't propose to fix this , why change the time zones and give everyone Fridays off .

Ah, the mantra of "redistribution", as in Liberals want to take from the rich and subsidize the poor. The GOP has gotten a lot of mileage out of this and continues to do so, all the while protecting the aristocracy.

You and the rest of the Righties on here are always bitching about our bad economy etc., but the top dogs have done well and continue to do so because they are the direct beneficiaries of RTW, anti-union legislation, and pro-corporate breaks that keep the middle class down and increase the number of low-paying jobs.

The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Evening the playing field is not redistribution, nor is it theft, but that's what the GOP wants you to believe.

And you do, because you don't know any better.

As long as the Democrats keep passing out freebies, we will never get anywhere m

You are only entitled to have a chance to better yourself, not sponge off of others.

OK, so everyone has an equal chance to succeed in or society? Hardly. You Righties do everything possible to keep the wealth at the top, not realizing you're screwing yourself in the process because the elite are screwing everyone.

Name the freebies, please.
