I Pledge Allegiance...

...to the flag of the United States of America. And to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

God bless America, land that I love. Stand beside her, and guide her, through the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans, white with foam. God bless America, my home, sweet home. God bless America, my home sweet home.

O beautiful, for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain. For purple mountains majesty above the fruited plain. America, America, God shed his grace on thee. And crowned thy good with Brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.

When these songs and the Pledge were written our ancestors knew what it meant to be an American. That in much of the world they would not have the opportunities and freedom that America offered. And that God played an important role. Without him we are descending into anarchy, chaos, and decadence. As an American you have the right to believe as you want, or to not believe. But nonbelievers want to completely drive God out of everyone's life. If you accomplish that you won't make America a better place. And you'll find out the hard way, as will all of us. The most civilizing force in the history of man has been Christianity. It's behind our laws, it's what has brought equality. It has allowed this nation to grow and prosper with its work ethic. Good bye to America if we ever replace God with a "progressive" creed that promotes everything that America is not.

its likely your ancestors were more socialist then now. america workers were appauled by industrialization and were effectively socialists thinking those who worked the mills ought to own them.
