ISIS aka The Islamic State

Via ABC News:

ISIS had recently threatened to kill U.S. journalist James Foley to avenge airstrikes the United States has conducted in Iraq, a senior U.S. official told ABC News.

The White House had been aware of the threat prior to the release of a video Tuesday night that appears to show the beheading of Foley and warns that militants will carry out a similar act against U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff, who went missing in August, the official said.

President Obama was briefed on the video aboard Air Force One Tuesday night as he returned to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, from Washington to resume his August vacation.

(Obama already knew ISIS was about to behead Foley so the news came as no surprise.)

The president is aware of ALL americans held prisoner in every country, and the likelyhood of harm coming to them.

What you are insinuating is nonsense.

Ya, but did he have to rush back to the golf course ?
Couldn't he have say visited the family , or at least give them a phone call ?

I think an old unit of mine may have left a small nuclear device in Iraq , they did an inventory , and can't seem to locate it .
Hopefully ISIS doesn't put it anywhere near where a missile from a drone might set it off .

Law of unintended consequences.

After a 10-year vanity war in Iraq, we've created conditions on the ground (fertile soil, so to speak) that have resulted in ISIS, or ISIL, or IS, or whatever you want to call them.

The US practically picked Maliki's name out of a hat...he was a sectarian idiot hack, and much like Saddam, fired anyone who was capable in the military (whom we trained, at great expense) and elevated his cronies instead.

Much of ISIS' weaponry is US made, abandoned when Maliki's hacks cut and run.

How ironic...after a needless war, we've finally achieved something...helping to create a real live, actual enemy!

Unfortunately, the American public has no stomach for fighting abroad, and Obama seems to be indecisive and impotent.

Oh well, one of these ISIS :censored2:s with UK and American passports will pull some shenanigans on our soil, and then we'll be 'surprised' and 'shocked' as a populace, and beat the war drums once again.

Who wins?

(Hint, it's not you or I).

Apparently the person who wrote that article has never heard of Chechnya in general or Beslan in particular. The Russians haven't had any better luck than we have.

You expect "parrots" to understand world events other than what they are told by right wing mouthpieces?

First of all, it wasnt OBAMA that was arming the syrian rebels. That honor goes to John McCain and Lindsey (imnotgay) Graham.

Those two idiots have called for expansion after expansion of arms to rebels OBAMA SAID we couldnt trust.

It was your beloved right wing republican congress that wants to arm the syrian rebels.

Nice try.

''AGAIN'' if 'Bush' would had bombed them until they were all dead,They would all be dead.

Problem is, we've bombed them back into the stone age through (almost) four Presidential terms.

Clearly, we need a different strategy...we're creating enemies faster then we can kill them.

Why is obuma calling ISIS .....ISIL ?

I was thinking about this today...

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria?

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant?

Now they want to be called, simply, the Islamic State.

ISIS, ISIL, IS.

I think we should call them whatever they don't want to be called.

'A-hole terrorists' doesn't quite play in the media, and after all, that applies to so many different groups.

They want IS, so we should keep calling them ISIL, or ISIS, or:

Maybe, the entire civilized world should adopt a nick-name for these barbarians, like:

"Tiny-dog-:censored2:ers".

Let the entire world media refer to these idiot heathens as the TDF.

Please, are we going to let them beat us at our own media game?

Maybe the Middle East is an unworkable situation that nobody but the players themselves can solve. All of you GOP armchair quarterbacks have it all figured out, right? No president or any other world leader has successfully solved what is a complicated religious/cultural/political hot and smelly mess.

Because you got nothing, your FOX advisors have keyed-in on Obama playing golf, which is pathetic because that's all you've got. Perhaps you should offer to solve the problem yourself. Once ISIS/ISIL is eradicated, another similar organization will be created and he cycle will start all over again.

The Middle East is a no-win situation.

If I agree that the Middle East is a no win situation....then why do we send mega $$$$ all over there ???

Stop the money, stop the interference, stop the inward flow of all of them. They can stay in the sand and fight it out with each other. We have our own oil.
