Yep, looks like the owner held onto it too long.
One of the reasons I stopped making the replacement site was legal reasons. I didn’t want to use this site to ā€œpromoteā€ an alternative site I have, as that’s against the ToS.

I do not believe that would apply to a site that is locking people out. It wouldn’t be self promotion. Just a salvage operation.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

You could get a new site ready so you could just flip the switch to make it active when the time comes.

Also, if the site shut down completely, we would have no issues.

It’s been a fun ride. More than a few of us have this as our only social media.

We know what we’re getting into. A bunch of cranky people who work for a living
There is a Facebook group that some of us from here are on. It's not very active but would be a good place to stay in contact with others from BC in the event it goes down again. Or at least until something else can be found

I wonder what the legality of re opening it if it does go under. Does the owner still have the rights? Or can someone redo it?
Cheryl purchased the domain for like 8 years.

I’ve done a bit of research into all this.

Even if the site goes dark, the domain can’t be reused, and all the data goes away. And belongs to Cheryl’s LLC which I assume is still being used by her daughter.

If memory serves, it was going to take at least 20 years to ROI with the current expense levels.

But hey, she fixed that. Don’t need to pay the IT guy to keep the site functional, right?

What could go wrong? šŸ˜‚
What a disaster, some of the good members we had here can’t even sign in anymore. Although somehow some of the crummy ones managed to carry on lol. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
