New Driver Questions

Hey all, I'm new to the forum here and also just won my bid for a PT Air Driver and had a few questions. I have been working for UPS for about 8 months on the Air ramp.
What kind of pay does a PT driver make starting out the bid sheet said I would be paid "corresponding to job performed", and will I be responsible for paying for my uni? How much training will I need to go through before I start actually driving?
I've tried to find out from people at work but get mixed responses, any help would be great!

Welcome to Brown Cafe and enjoy your stay.

Talk to the supervisor who will be training you, he or she will have the answers.
Good luck

Uniforms are furnished, except socks. Pay here starts at 12.50 hr. Training here is now a WEEK! Learn your 10point commentary. And know your AGKLM. Both of these had to be written WORD FOR WORD here.(prairie mountain) If you plan on working, you will not. If you plan on being off you will work. LOL Did the air thing for 6 years, enjoy the slower pace.

Man, that is so true about planning to work or not. They somehow KNOW what you are thinking. Trust me.

And as for the driving rules and commentary. Yes, learn it letter-for-letter, dot for dot, periods, commas and all. This will not be easy for some. It took me several months of writing them over and over before I got it 100% right. In driving class I got it so right that I noticed that the instructor was trying to get me to quote some of it outloud to see if I had cheated. This was on day 1 and day 5. We had to do it twice. I got it 100% right both times. I watched others cheat and pass the class. Not good and they'll escort your butt out of there if you do that.

Thanks for all the feedback, so Air is a slower pace than other hubs? I have noticed that in the sort and ramp I guess it makes sense it applies to driving as well!

12 or so years ago I was an 'ON CALL AIR DRIVER'. I never had so much fun at a job. Making around $15.00 an hr. and just kicking it all afternoon. Then right after the 97' strike they 'absorbed my position', along with all of the 10 or so OCA drivers. Man I miss OCA driving!!!!!!! Any thing dealing with UPS air is the most kick back job. JMO.
