NEW RULES

Its called negative reinforcement and its meant to do exactly what you all are doing. Freaking out and panicking. Can anyone name a person who was fired for 3 olcc for SPH. Ignore them. If a mgr gets in your truck and you hit 105 %, then you got problems. If you do it by the book, you will most certainly run slower..ie, best practice, safety. ..continue the panic.

Oh, no! They wouldn't do that!

Sarcasm noted.

the point is they were not informed of this new 100% goal until it showed up on the OLCC and from the way I read it, no driver had been check rode under the new goals. If you intend to use these as documentation to fire me, you had better do a better job of it or expect to spend some time in front of a judge defending your actions.

But in receiving the OLCC they have been given notice of the expectations/goals. And the documentation has begun at the same time. SPH likes to claim that Fedex won't have mass layoffs because of unemployment costs and public perception. That Express no longer exists. They are playing to Wall Street. Look at last quarter profit statement for Express. Zero. Did Wall Street panic that so much of that profit went to buyouts? Can't look at the stock price today and make that claim.

Now that I think about it some more, this might be something they need to discuss with an employment attorney.
If they were not informed of the new goal prior to the OLCC, if they were not shown how to achieve that goal, then this documentation is arbitrary and capricious. Get a lawyer to take it on a contingency as a class action since this went out to every driver.

Had they been trained on the new goals? Could a single manager achieve those same goals? I doubt FedEx would want this one going in front of a jury. It seems winnable for the employees on most states and a slam dunk in California.

Haven't they for several years now said that route goals are based on second best day ever on route? If that is obtainable, after some tweaking, and especially if swings are doing it, then can they say one isn't making an acceptable effort if one is consistently running at 95%? Not arguing for them, just wondering. My mgr recently read off the list of couriers who are hitting 100% or better. I signed an olcc for hitting 88%. Was told I didn't have to sign it if I didn't want to but it made it clear my numbers weren't acceptable. I wrote on it what a couple of customers had told me about previous courier's methods and mgr told me that was good, would enable him to make case to senior to change route parameters. At this point it's just a matter of pride. Hustled and posted excellent numbers all of these years and now as I'm retiring being treated like a bum. Mgr told me senior mgr asked him if he thought I was milking it. It may be strictly about Wall Street now, but we are real people they are treating like robots. Defective unit? Replace it.

We don't get reviewed on SPH anymore right? I don't even know what my SPH goal is. I guess I am going to find out.

I have a DRA route but since I do pickups the RTB is not accurate.

Everyone needs to document--it'll make the unemployment hearing easier.

Nothing but empty threats. This company does not want litigation nation wide.

Exactly, if you are going to sign it, make sure you write in the pertinent facts your manager would have omitted. That he couldn't achieve those same goals. That this is the first you have heard of those goals. That you have not been trained on those goals. That there is no accommodation for late freight, weather, traffic, DRA, reattempts, customer delays, bad addresses, vehicle breakdowns etc.
this is something you should edit on the clock, on your managers computer in their office and to your satisfaction. (Take your time. this document could appear in a court case.) A paper OLCC can be torn up and tossed and the manager can say you never signed it. Once you hit enter on the computer, you leave a forensic digital trail.

That would require nationwide organization. We know how that goes at Express.

All we need is for it to happen in Cali. That's as good as nationwide :) /sarcasm

I do know of a courier who claims he was fired because of his stops per hour about 3-4 months ago. But that is his claim, not really verifiable. He wasn't a horrible courier, never late never sick--came in went home--til they escorted him out. It was a station in my district, not mine, but close enough that couriers at my station worked with him before new stations/splits were made.
