Biden is up to 30 executive orders in his first 2 weeks.

Obama only had 8. And even he was setting the record for 2008

I think Trump had 6.

MLK missed the point of this old Biblical based saying ... he did not miss many but this one he did.
The point of this is to do away with the punishments that were not commensurate with the law that was broken.
The masses were subject to much more severe punishments for breaking laws than the anointed were.
A 'common' fella could have his right hand cut-off for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family from the 'nobility'.

A more accurate derivation of this old adage would be "Don't blind the beggar if you wouldn't blind the King."

I don't disagree with your assessment about the development of the eye for an eye standard. But it is a retaliatory system, whereas Jesus reminds us to pursue justice but not neglect mercy, and to forgive those who sin against us.

An eye for an eye means to limit retribution and do no more harm than was done to you. Not as a license to automatically seek vengeance.

Trump had over 200 by the end of his presidency (and neither Obama nor Bush before him got to 300 - and they were two term presidents). A lot of Biden's are just reversing Trump's. He's not doing a lot of ground breaking stuff here.

If anyone has ever had a reason to seek justice and retribution, it's the Tutsi. But to move forward, many terrible people have had to be forgiven.
Obviously what the Hutu did to the Tutsi was horrific. But don't forget that the Tutsi were the minority that held the power and controlled the country's wealth. Oppressing a much larger group, living well at their expense, often has dire consequences.

If I didn't know better, I would say that was a defense of class warfare...

Let's also not forget it was the Dutch who created the class differences based on skin color. This is why an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, there's always plenty of blame to go around. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

You're talking about South Africa. Hutus and Tutsis are both black, different ethnic groups.

I may be mistaken, it's been a while since I read up and watched a documentary on this. It was my understanding that the Dutch assigned different people to either Tutsi or Hutu based on skin tones and other attributes. I'll have to refresh my memory.
