NLRB To Conduct Union Election At Kansas City Upsf Barn

This morning, the officers of the APWA successfully submitted a petition to the local NLRB field office requesting a secret ballot election on behalf of employees at the UPS Freight Kansas City Barn. An election petition requires greater than 30% of the employees in the barn to sign an authorization card.

Last week UPS corporate refused the APWA's request for voluntary card check recognition, thus leaving the APWA no choice but to request a secret ballot NLRB election.

More to come as information is distributed.

Why would UPS refuse the APWA anything, when according to some people on this board UPS started the APWA????

"Why would UPS refuse the APWA anything, when according to some people on this board UPS started the APWA????"

I think the answer is simple:

Plausible deniability.

When the poo starts to hit the fan, they can say, "Whaddaya mean we created apwa? We refused them card check recognition. Why would we do this if we created them?"

Where in the world do you think apwa gets all that money for holding meetings, flying the two malcontents around the country, lawyers fees, renting space for info meets?

Of course it's UPS funded. Excellent business move by UPS.

Because if they agreed to the apwa and not to the teamsters we would probably be out manning those picket lines again. Oh yeah wheres the money coming from for the apwa?

Oh I get it.... its like opening up a retail store and then not really selling anything. Makes a lot of sense to me.

It's a bit too soon for the APWA Election Petition to show up in the NLRB database. Nevertheless, now is as good a time as any to familiarize yourself with how the NLRB's search engine operates. Other petitions for elections, and charges of Unfair Labor Practices are sure to be filed. You can follow them here . . .
