No, it's not the same everywhere. I just got out at 49, 31 years in, and have full medical for me and spouse, no cost. I know that's rare, but it does exist. We don't have 25 and out, or out at 30 years any age, we have PEER 80 only.

NorCal, Bay Area.

We, at our local, opted to divert, initially .40/hr, now its up to .91/hr, towards retiree medical so it would be no cost. So, we paid towards it all along to avoid the large cost in retirement.
