Sadam Hussein

What is with this trial? Shouting out in court and having tantrums?! If the trial was here, Sadam would be escorted to a private (soundproof) room where he could watch the trial by remote. I can't believe the 'crap' that the court puts up with involving this animal.

How can things proceed in an orderly manner with all his monkeying around? :taz:

He knows his days are numbered.

He is also playing to the audience, remember disdain for the powers that hold him are important to the way he is perceived. Trying to be a hero that becomes a martyr.

Shame there cant be an accident. It would save us millions.

Actually, if he was here, he would have a good lawyer (like Johnny Cochran), and he would probably walk on the grounds that he was arrested under false pretenses - posession of WMD.

Actually Saddam is standing trial because he used weapons of mass destruction on the kurds. A horrific crime killing a hundred thousand that should never be discounted for political purposes.

And watch tonight on meet the press I think or one of the other news shows. It has both some captured video and audio tape where he intended to use WMD's against New York and some others stating where some of these "non-existing WMD's" were hidden.

What can you say, out of the mans own mouth. Might have been he was giving out miss information that some one swallowed.

But then again, pre 9-11, most normal people would consider flying busses into a building more of a joke than a real threat.

He may be on trial for killing Kurds, and that's a good thing, but that's certainly not the reason we invaded Iraq. And Danny, if he's on tape tellling us where he hid the WMD's, then why haven't we found them? Even the White House has now admitted that they were wrong about it.

Are you ever right about anything? (NO) That's not what he is on trial for. Look it up for yourself.

In case we forget what an animal he is.......

Former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein goes on trial in Baghdad today charged with killing 148 people in Dujail following an assassination attempt on him during a visit to the village. He may also face charges in relation to other alleged atrocities committed in the country, as detailed in the following reports from the Guardian archive.

1974: At least five Shia religious leaders are killed and possibly dozens more.
1970s - 2003: 270 mass graves are found, leading to charges of the killing of tens of thousands of people.
21.07.04: Unrecorded victims
30.03.04, Ann Clwyd: Iraq is free at last

1982: Following an assassination attempt against Saddam Hussein during a visit to Dujail, 148 people are killed in the village.
09.10.05: Saddam: Witnesses for the prosecution

1983: 8,000 male members of the Kurdish Barzani tribe in the northern province of Arbil are arrested and deported to southern Iraq. No trace of them has ever been found.

1988: The Anfal ('Spoils') campaign is designed to depopulate the Kurdish regions in northern Iraq. Up to 182,000 people are killed or die from cold and hunger and entire villages are razed.
17.10.88: American doctors find 'overwhelming evidence' of use of chemical weapons by Iraqis

1988: A chemical attack against the Kurdish village of Halabja kills 5,000 people in one day during the Anfal campaign. The attack is carried out under the command of General Ali Hassan al-Majid, earning him the moniker Chemical Ali.
22.03.88: The Kurdish victims caught unaware by cyanide

1990: Following the invasion of Iraq, hundreds of Kuwaiti civilians are rounded up and tortured, and many are brought back to Iraq as hostages. About 700 oil wells are set alight, polluting the Persian Gulf.
03.08.90: Superpowers unite on Iraq
1991: Thousands die in the aftermath of the Gulf War when uprisings by Kurds in the north and Shias in the south are suppressed.
03.04.91: The valleys of death: refugees appeal for Western intervention

Actually the video is going to be on Nightline at 11:30 et. One of his generals has also been talking about how the wmd's were shipped to Syria on gutted airliners but somehow the main stream media can't seem to run this story. What a surprise.

Maybe because the general's story is full of more holes than Cheney's hunting buddy.

Who cares about "the main stream media" ( though to be honest, I've always thought Nightline was pretty mainstream)? It wasn't a bunch of journalists who invaded Iraq looking for WMDs. If this story is legit, why isn't the Whitehouse all over it? If it's true, it would sure help prove their case and silence a lot of the critics. I suspect that the reason that Dick Cheney and Brit Hume aren't trumpeting this story is that they know this dog won't hunt.

yes sir the facts proving Hussien had WMD's , made efforts to hide them from the UN and may even have had plans to use them against us are slowly leaking out. Despite the best denials of liberals like TS and jones.
